Meeting Other Seniors in Toronto

Wednesday, November 12th, 2008

It is very common for retired seniors to feel the need to “get out of the house” and participate in various social gatherings and activities.  If you are feeling like this, never think you’re the only one!  There are ample opportunities for seniors to meet with other seniors in their area.

Senior meet up groups, organizations, clubs and social networks have become extremely popular in recent years - and the numbers only continue to climb!

Some meet up groups are educational.  Seniors can learn about the products and services available to them to help them and serve them in their aging years.

Meet up groups can also be social.  Seniors and older adults can find a group or club that meets up on a regular basis to share experiences and stories.  This gives seniors a chance to socialize with others who share similar interests and ultimately gain valuable friendships and connections.

Seniors may want to join a volunteer organization.  Volunteer opportunities give older adults and seniors a chance to be a part of something that is social, enjoyable, and self-fulfilling.

There are many classes, programs, courses and activities in Toronto and the GTA which teach seniors a variety of things.  Just think, is there anything that you’ve ever wanted to learn but you just never got around to it?  Perhaps playing the guitar, ballroom dancing, woodworking, cooking - the list could be endless and the opportunity is at your fingertips!

As humans we need to belong, we need to be involved, and we need to socialize.  Let yourself find the ways you want to satisfy such needs.  The options are endless, and there are many seniors and older adults out there just like you who you’ll be able to meet and enjoy the time you spend together.
