Stay Green in Your Senior Years

Monday, May 28th, 2012

Young or old, working or retired, there are a few simple steps we all can take to preserve the environment. Here is a short list of suggestions on how YOU can ensure you’re doing a small part to reduce your carbon footprint:

  1. Replace old, energy-guzzling bulbs with new compact fluorescent or solar powered ones.
  2. Speed up your showers and turn off the water when you brush your teeth.
  3. Unplug appliances you rarely use.
  4. Shut down your computer every night.
  5. Save documents electronically and avoid printing when you can.
  6. Carpool, take public transit or walk – instead of driving solo.
  7. Use cloth, reusable bags when you shop.
  8. Consider using environmentally friendly cleaning products in your home.

We all have the ability to contribute. Make the decision to do what you can. Each of us is one person. But we are each a person who can make a difference.
