New Outlook
Wednesday, October 22nd, 2008Decades ago, becoming a senior was surrounded by an entirely different mind frame than it is today. I think that among the major factors contributing to the more positive outlook that surrounds aging are included increased life expectancy, better health, and more money. Nowadays, retirement is greatly anticipated and favoured as a time that we can look forward to. We can finally do what we want to do.
As our baby boom generation enters their post-retirement years, and as their parents enter their “senior” years, our population as a whole becomes predominantly composed of older adults. We can no longer dismiss or deny this. Instead, this must be embraced!
Our older population is fascinating! They have the money to drive our economy; the “zip” to remain active and independent; and the free time to travel, be entertained and experience anything and everything their hearts desire. Needless to say, these are not the people to be ignored.
Our aging population has alot to offer our society. The fundamental change in our thinking must be accompanied by many fundamental changes in our communities and in business. Older adults and seniors are the voices of tomorrow - and they must be heard.
